This thoughtful design ensures that your rug will eventually lie flat on the edges and eliminates unsightly high edges or corners. Your rug will eventually lie flat on the ends and sides and have a slight dip from the underlay to the ends of your rug. This is done to prevent trip hazards and to hide the visual underlay appearance under the rug edges.

• Usage: Although recommended for hard floors, Carpet Capers tested the product on tiles and a carpeted floor. We found some rug movement still applied over existing carpet flooring, with minimal rug movement over tiled areas.

Application of our rug underlay:

• We will apply the double-sided tape to the underlay.
• The double-sided tape may be a bit wrinkled from the rolling up of the underlay for delivery; no need to worry; it will stick to the underlay and rug if wrinkled.
• Place the underlay where you want to position your rug and leave it to sit for an hour or so to lay flat from being rolled up.
• Place your rug at one end of the underlay, leaving even gaps on the side of the underlay and about an 8 to 10-cm gap at the end as well.
• Once you are happy with your starting position, roll out about a mtr of your rug.
• Then, roll back to where you first positioned your rug, peel the top layer of the double-sided tape, and rub the carpet to stick the tape to the rug underlay.
• Now that the tape secures and holds the start of the rug positioning, you can slowly move to the other end of the rug, working down to the end, taking the tape off as you go.
• It generally takes 48 hours for the ends and sides to lay flat on the floor.
• There will be a slightly bevelled edge around the whole rug.
• The benefits are great for our grandbabies, who love crawling on our rug over its tiled flooring.
• Please note: All-natural fibre or hand-woven rugs may not be recommended for this application as the natural fibres may not adhere to the double-sided carpet tape.

We occasionally change our underlay supplier; the photos provided are from tests we did at home and show an underlay we used.

Different manufacturers use different-coloured tops for their underlays; no matter what the top of the underlay is, we will always use a 10mm bonded foam carpet underlay.

Any rug can leave a UV stain under its surface. Please always check after a period that no colour variations are affected by UV light on your existing flooring. Always check the flooring under your rug and rug underlays for any colour or marking.
